Know Your Routes: Route 395

Another recent addition to London's bus network, this "Know Your Routes" doesn't cover a well know bus route, we even cover the most unknown of bus routes and the 395 is one of them.

Having started on September 4th 2009, the route replaced the eastbound end of route 398 which used to run to Westway Cross Retail Park. The 395 took over this section of the route whilst the 398 was curtailed to Lilian Board Way in Wood End, Northolt Park.

The 395 starts at Harrow, follows the H9/10 to South Harrow, then follows the 140 to Racecourse Estate, wanders its way through Racecourse, approaches Islip Manor then approaches Northolt Station from the South side of the station unlike the 140 which approaches from the North, then goes through Currey Road to Greenford Station and terminates at the nearby Westway Cross Retail park.

The route is operated by Metroline from their Perivale West (PA) garage where the CELF centre is located. The route uses 10.2m Enviro 200's with a PVR of 4 buses.

Sadly, the route isn't prone to Odd Workings. It would of been interesting if one of E6's MM's got onto the route, but that's my opinion.

Local people were enthusiastic about the arrival of 395 as:

a) The route served Harrow which is a more popular destination to Ruislip
b) The 395 would provide a Sunday service whereas 398 didn't
c) The 395 is more frequent than the 398 as buses come every 15-20 minutes

In 2012, the 58 reg DE's were moved to Cricklewood (W) and so the route uses slightly more recent DE's which are 10reg and 11reg DE's.
